An innovative single handed package.

A potent, high-aspect rig comes in four versions adaptable to each sailor's particular region or taste. The first makes use of the high-aspect rig to carry a 105% jib and a large mainsail. Both the mainsheet and jib sheets disappear into the coachroof and are lead back to the winches at the helm. The second sail plan uses the same jib along with an in-mast furling mainsail. The third sail plan is performance-oriented and combines a large, overlapping 140% genoa along with a fully-battened mainsail. The fourth, and last version, includes a self-tacking jib mounted on a track in front of the mast. Two different keel options 2.20m and 1.60m can be used for all of the sail plans. Philippe Briand carefully studied each combination to make sure that each choice offered exceptional stability and control in all conditions.

The modern and simple to use deck plan was the result of a complete rethinking of the ergonomics of sail handling. All the sheets are lead back to the twin helm stations which remain uncluttered. Sail handling is within easy reach of the helmsperson making the boat enjoyable and safe for all onboard. Harken's new Rewind winches are available as an option to make sheeting in and out a breeze.

Jeanneau 50 DS

Specifications     Pictures

Contemporary, exciting, beautiful, fast, seaworthy and comfortable are all adjectives that accurately describe the new Sun Odyssey 50DS. Designed by Philippe Briand, Vitarrio Garoni and the Jeanneau design team, this most recent model draws upon all the successful qualities of the thousands of boats that have preceded it. The hull form was rendered in 3-D, using state of the art technology that not only optimizes performance but also maximizes interior volume.

The layout on deck is incredibly simple and uncluttered adding to the overall beauty of the boat. The large cockpit, complete with twin helm stations will make sailing the 50DS nothing short of superb. Down below, the woodwork creates an atmosphere that is both rich and inviting. Two optional layouts are available. Jeanneau's signature cat-eye windows are modified a bit on the 50DS, allowing for a tremendous amount of light to enter the main salon.

Seven reasons why Jeanneau is the world's leading yacht builder:

Proven Experience

For the past 45 years the philosophy at Jeanneau has been finding the balance between innovative technologies and time-proven traditional craftsmanship. The result of this unique approach to boat building in the modern world is a comprehensive range of sailboats that above all else meets the diverse needs of our customers.

Elegant Craftsmanship

More than anything else, boat building at Jeanneau is a work of man. While computers and modern production techniques help to produce the finished product the overall success of Jeanneau is found in the artistry of the experienced craftsman.

Superior Construction

Strength and reliability are the cornerstones of Jeanneau's approach to building quality boats. Each hull is constructed completely by hand. To provide stiffness, a structural grid of laminated hard- wood is bonded directly to the hull. Vinylester® resin is used exclusively in the outer plies of the laminate to guard against the threat of osmosis. Kevlar® cloth is then added to high stress areas for additional strength andimpact resistance.

Exceptional Woodwork

Chosen for its beauty and resistance to the elements, teak has been the choice of wood for boat builders for generations. Today, Jeanneau is the only production builder still utilizing authentic Burmese teak for its decks, bulkheads and interior furnishings.

Design and Innovation

While Jeanneau has maintained certain elements of its traditional heritage, they have also embraced the modern world of advanced technologies. Modern innovations such as the computer-aided design system, automated varnish applicator and com- puterized table saws enable Jeanneau to produce better, more reliable boats than ever before.

Performance and Comfort

Before a Jeanneau ever makes it from the design department to the factory floor, much thought has gone into creating the perfect combination of comfort, safety and performance. In short, every Jeanneau is designed to sail and sail well.

Yacht Management Programs & Tax Issues

Catamaran Guru offers yacht management programs in the charter fleets of Dream Yacht Charters, the biggest privately owned charter company in the world.

You could dramatically reduce the costs of ownership by simply taking advantage of the current tax laws while creating equity in your new yacht by legitimately diverting some of the taxes that you are already paying to your yacht business. You could own your yacht in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.

Stephen Cockcroft is one of the very few experts on this subject in the country and have helped many boat owners to successfully navigate the path to a successful yacht business, in complete compliance with all tax laws.
